Hyojin Kwak (b. 1996) is a Korean contemporary music composer, Gayageum player, and music educator. She began her formal music career in New York City and is currently based in Los Angeles.

Her compositions explore creative soundscapes and intricate textures. Initially, her works were predominantly modern, emphasizing sound and texture, often drawing on abstract and avant-garde musical styles. Following extensive study, she has developed a distinctive voice, blending the timbral and rhythmic qualities of Korean traditional music with the structures of Western classical music. She brings her unique interpretation to both musical traditions, crafting innovative sound worlds through her compositions.

Hyojin holds a Master's degree in Music Theory and Composition from New York University Steinhardt, where she studied under Julia Wolfe and Robert Honstein. To broaden her artistic possibilities, she also studied film scoring during her graduate studies. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Classical Composition from Kyung Hee University in South Korea, where she also studied music education, focusing on music cognition and music pedagogy. She obtained her Teacher Certificate of Music from Kyung Hee University in South Korea.

Her musical achievements have been recognized through various scholarships and awards. These include the David & Clara Rothman Scholarship, the Agnew Foundation Scholarship, and the Lawrence Ferrara Scholarship at New York University. She was also awarded the Joint Second Prize in the 5th International Younghi Pagh-Paan Composition Prize in Germany. In addition, at Kyung Hee University, she was honored with the Scholarship of Excellence and Academic Achievement Honors.
